Business stays in Clermont-Ferrand: Michelin, Polydôme, Cézeaux and longer stays
Published 31 October 2026
A business trip to Clermont-Ferrand usually revolves around a few key hubs: the Michelin sites, the Polydôme for conferences, the Cézeaux campus and the CHU (university hospital). The good news: tram line A and the high-frequency bus lines link most of them, and the city is easy to get around without a car. Here is how to find your way and organise a stay of a few days or a few weeks.
The main business hubs
- Michelin: the group was founded in Clermont and still has its historic head office here, in the Carmes district, as well as its Ladoux research centre, north of the city.
- The Polydôme: the conference and exhibition centre, on place du 1er Mai, is served by the tram. According to its operator, it has a 650-seat auditorium and 16 meeting rooms, and can host conferences of up to 1,500 people.
- The Cézeaux campus: in Aubière, south of the city, it houses a large share of the science courses and laboratories of the Université Clermont Auvergne. It is served by tram line A.
- The CHU: spread over two sites, Gabriel-Montpied and Estaing. We have written a full article on access and accommodation: staying near the CHU and Les Cézeaux.
Getting around without a car
The T2C network was reorganised in December 2025. It is built around three main lines:
- Tram line A crosses the city from north to south, from Les Vergnes to La Pardieu Gare, via the centre, the CHU Gabriel-Montpied and Les Cézeaux.
- Line B links the airport, the CHU Estaing, the SNCF railway station, place de Jaude, Chamalières and Royat, with a bus every 6 to 10 minutes.
- Line C complements this route and serves avenue Carnot in particular, near the station.
A single ticket allows transfers during its period of validity (check on the T2C website). Check current routes and fares on t2c.fr. If you come by car, note that parking in the city centre is paid, and many of our properties have a private parking space.
Organising a stay of several weeks
For a long assignment, a training course or a relocation, a furnished flat is often more comfortable than a hotel room: you have a kitchen, room to work and a washing machine.
- Self check-in: usually from 4 pm, with no reception hours to worry about, even after a late train.
- Working on site: wifi in every property, and a table or workspace in many of them.
- Invoice: on request, in your company's name.
- Teams: several flats at the same address to house a construction, film or training team.
For a stay of several weeks or several months, contact us with your dates and we will send you a tailored proposal. Everything is explained on our business and long stays page.
Which area to choose?
- The city centre, to do everything on foot and by tram. The Arth&M flats, on rue Saint-Artème, are close to place Delille and the tram. Le Lavoisier, on boulevard Lavoisier, is at the edge of the centre, near the business district.
- Clermont Sud, for the CHU Gabriel-Montpied and Les Cézeaux. The Léon Blum residence has 8 renovated flats, each with its own private parking space, close to the motorway.
- Around Clermont, for teams travelling by car who prefer a house with several bedrooms.
After the working day
Clermont is well suited to short evenings out: dinner in the historic centre around the cathedral, a stroll in the jardin Lecoq, or an ASM rugby match at the stade Marcel-Michelin. At the weekend, the puy de Dôme and the Chaîne des Puys are less than half an hour away: plenty to fill a weekend if you stay on.
